From the Principal

Our Gospel this week comes from Luke:

“Do your best to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.” Luke 13, 24-30

Again our thoughts turn to the challenge of discipleship as Jesus exhorts his disciples to consider that the door to salvation is a difficult one to enter. I do not consider that Jesus is necessarily responding to the question "how many of us will be saved?", rather, I like to think that he is challenging all of us to consider the idea that the path, or narrow gate, is not simple and requires perseverance and determination. In our current world climate our daily news feed gives us incredibly stressful and disturbing images of war, famine and inequity. Jesus is calling us today to walk a difficult path that challenges inequity and injustice, this indeed is a narrow gate; it is at times countercultural for us to focus on other instead of self, however this is what we are called to do as true disciples of Jesus. Perhaps one way to consider the narrow gate, is to see it as the challenge we are called to make to those who would have us believe that equity and justice are not important things for which we should strive.

We have noted a very significant improvement in the ways our delightful students are wearing their school uniforms, I thank all families for their support of us as we ensure our excellent name in the community is maintained by all who represent us in public.

I draw your particualr attention to two notifications families would have recieved this week.  The first relates to a competition we are running with the first prize being a 50% reduction in school fees for one student in 2023. The way to enter is to join the MACSIS Survey Eveneing on Monday September 5; the forum will be held online and gives all families the opportunity to win great prizes and help us collect feedback to help us do our work even better. The second is in regard to a parent information evening being held by the City of Graeter Dandenong Youth and Family Services at Springvale Library at 7:00pm on Wednesday 14 September. All relevant information can be found here:

I wish you all a very happy weekend,
