Plenty Parklands Has Talent
This term PPPS is running its biennial talent show competition!
All students from P-6 are welcome to perform their talent in auditions which will be held in the hall. The categories for the talent show are Music, Dance, Drama and Alternative (other). Any and all kinds of talent (so long as they are appropriate for school) are welcomed and encouraged.
Auditions began yesterday at lunchtime and will continue every Wednesday thereafter until all students who would like to participate have done so. There is no cost to participate!
Following auditions, there will be a ‘final’ with 3 performances from each category. There will then be a winner chosen from each category by a number of our JSCs who will be judging the acts and collaborating to organise the event.
At this stage, parents/guardians will be able to attend their child's audition onsite. We will keep you updated if this changes. All the audition times and dates for each participating student/group will be posted on Compass. We are aiming for the final performance to be held in the last week of term. No date has been set as yet.

Message from the Department of Health
The Department of Health strongly recommends that face masks are worn in indoor settings. Face masks are mandatory for those aged 8 and over who are household contacts and attending school. This is because wearing a mask is effective in reducing the transmission of COVID-19.
Face masks are strongly recommended for staff and students aged 8 and over when indoors, but are not mandated.
Schools should not sanction students or staff who do not wear masks but are asked to encourage students to understand the benefits of wearing a mask to protect themselves and their school community.
Exemptions for testing and isolation
The period of time when someone is considered a recently confirmed case and therefore exempt from testing and isolation requirements has been reduced from the previous 12 weeks to 4 weeks.
This means that staff and children who are household contacts of people with COVID-19 are now required to undertake the testing and isolation requirements from 4 weeks after completing isolation with COVID-19.
After the 4 week exemption period, students and staff members who are a household contact of a new COVID-19 case, must follow the rules for household contacts, including reporting this to their school.
As part of this, they must take 5 rapid antigen tests (RATs) over 7 days and receive negative test results and wear a face mask (if over 8 years old) in indoor spaces.
Child safety and wellbeing at Plenty Parklands - information for families and the school community
The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Plenty Parklands has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school’s website.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.
As valuable partners in promoting and maintaining child safety and wellbeing, we welcome and encourage your feedback.
If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact the Principal, David Whewell.
