Secondary Leaders for 2023

This week in the secondary we have initiated our leadership selection process for 2023.  It has been great to see the effort that our current year 11 students have gone to in producing their applications.  In reading these applications and reflecting on all the activities that these students have been involved in I thought it would be great to give a reminder to students in other year levels what is required to be a leader at our school.

The application asks the following questions

1. How have you upheld the values of the school?

2. How have you acted as a role model for peers and others?

3. When have you given generously of your time to the school and wider community?

4. Have you represented the school with pride?

So for those students who are thinking that they might like to apply for leadership in the future, think about the opportunities that you get both in and out of school and try to make the most of them.  As a coach of mine used to say, Opportunity is never wasted, others take up what you don't.

Good luck to those students who have had the courage to apply.

Secondary Art

Year 11 students Finn Miller, and Natanial Lias critique each other's artwork in class. Both paintings reflect current research about boys, artistic expression, and authentic learning.

Finn, drawing on his athletic interests and participation in the dangerous sport of surfing and braving the icy arctic waters of New Zealand's remote surfing beaches, has been studying the power of wave-form in oil-on-board.

Nate's portrait in oil on canvas, draws on his interest in Manga-style adventure/action heros, using his friendships at school to frame character-studies.

Secondary School Dress-Up Day for Book Week 2022

Date: Thursday August 25, 2022

Get ready to dig into your costume cupboard, craft some masks and dust off your dress ups! This year Secondary School students are invited to participate in the annual Book Week Costume Parade, showing off their creative styling in the Resource Centre at lunchtime. There will be prizes for the best dressed book characters

Students who choose not to wear a costume can instead wear casual clothes and donate a gold coin to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, a community-led group which responds to requests from remote communities for culturally relevant books.

Those who wear costumes can choose to bring casual clothes to change into once the parade is over.

PDHPE

What a fortnight it has been in PDHPE. Our students have been out and about enjoying the great community resources available in our local area. Our Year 7 and 8 students have been testing their Basketball Skills at the Echuca Stadium, Year 9 PASS students taking in the surrounds canoeing up and down the Murray, Year 10 PASS students at the Rich River Driving Range improving their golfing game and Year 11’s testing out Sky Yoga with Sherondipity Yoga and Spin with Next Level Fitness. As always a huge thank you to all the businesses in the community for the continual support of our PDHPE programs.

A huge thank you to Marjorie and the Rich River Croquet Club for loaning the school two sets of croquet equipment.

This is such a generous donation and support from the club and will go to great use in our Year 10 PASS classes.
