Providing consent for Events, Incursions and Excursions

Parents/Carers are reminded that some events at school require explicit permission for students to attend, such as incursions with guest presenters, excursions outside the school grounds (including bus trips), events requiring payment, etc.

At ARPS we aim to include every student is every planned extra-curricula event and activity. Where a family is experiencing any form of hardship, we encourage parents/carers to contact the school for support. However, schools are unable to allow students to attend events requiring parent/carer permission, when that consent has not been provided.

Ideally, all parents can view and consent for students to attend school extra-curricula events, incursions or excursions any-time on Compass. Where this has not occurred just prior to the due date, a hard copy notice is sent home as an additional reminder. Where the notice is not returned, a phone message, Dojo Message or SMS is then provided to parents. When all efforts to ensure a student attends an event have been exhausted, and no consent is provided, the student will not be able to attend the event.

To allow teachers to adequately have time to make arrangements for students not attending an event, staff must have permissions returned by the due date, and not on the day of the event of the excursion. We appreciate the efforts of our families to return permission on Compass, or in writing, by the due date. This helps avoid unnecessary additional workload for staff and anxiety for students.
