This week we celebrate the feast of day of St. Mary of the Cross Mackillop.
Mary with Fr. Julian Tenison Woods founded the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, which was the beginning of her dedicated service of God and the poor. She sacrificed a great deal so that the poor could be fed, educated and nurtured.
The Sisters of Saint Joseph opened our Sacred Heart School on February 4th 1964 with 55 students from Prep to Grade 6. This is why St. Mary of the Cross Mackillop has a connection to our school and is included in our School Prayer. May we all have the courage to follow in her footsteps and remember her work with the poor, during this week where her feast day is celebrated.
This past week, we farewelled Tina Keyzer as she heads off to Walwa PS to take on an Acting Principal role. Many of our students wrote letters to thank Tina for her wonderful teaching of them, sharing special memories and letting her know, how much of a wonderful Principal she will be.
Over the next two weeks, we will welcome two teachers into the 2/3 classroom. Rochelle Sandilands will be teaching 2/3 on a Monday and Tuesday and Celeste Oliver will teach Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays. We look forward to welcoming Rochelle into our teaching community and welcoming Celeste back after family leave.
Thank you to our parents, carers and families for supporting our need to go to Remote Learning for Monday and Tuesday. Unfortunately due to the impacts of COVID-19 and staffing shortages, we had no other alternative. We look forward to school returning to normal for all students on Wednesday 3rd of August.
