Meet our school captains: Bel

Meet Bel, one of your school captains!

Hey everyone!

I’m Bel and I’m one of the 4 school captains for 2022!

I was in my car as I found out I was school captain and I was starstruck. I vividly remember turning to my dad and going “OMG guess what?! I’m school captain!!!” I was bursting with excitement. I couldn’t wait for the next day to find out who my other incredible captains were. I am very honoured to be here and a part of the squad. We all can’t believe it’s actually term 3 of our last year of primary school!! I’ve made so many amazing memories here with friends, teachers and peers. It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally my turn to take the CHPS pop quiz. These are my honest thoughts and feelings about this school.

Enjoy!

How long have you been at CHPS?

I have been here at Clifton Hill for 6 years now. I know this school like the back of my hand. Everything that goes on here I’m quick to know about, especially the hot gos’. I’ve used this time to create very special bonds with both the teachers and students here.

What is your favourite thing about CHPS?

The kids! I’ve loved working and learning with my peers. Facing challenges and doing all sorts of fun activities. They’re always showing our 4 school values in any way possible. They’re never leaving anyone out and are friendly to new students who can be shy and don’t know the school, they’ll be right there to show them around and create friendships that’ll last a lifetime.

How do you want to be remembered for when you leave?

I want to be remembered as the school captain who embodied all of the school values. Someone who tried their very best to make our school a fun, enjoyable and safe experience for both students and teachers. I want to leave a mark on the school that’ll be remembered for years to come. I want to make our school even better than it already is and create change.

What is your favourite subject and why?

I was really stuck and confuzzled on what to write for this one because I love all of the subjects. But…if I had to pick a normal class subject it would have to be between free/creative writing or spelling. I never really understood why I liked them. With writing I like being able to have no limits on what I write, I can get as creative as I want and I love getting to explore all the realms in my imagination. But with spelling I feel like I get to be organised and clear with my communication so people can understand what I’m trying to say without being confused. For the specialist subjects it’s even harder. All the specialist teachers make the subjects so much fun and enjoyable in their own unique way. With that in mind, I would have to say that I love doing Music with Roz because I have a very musical family and am a musical person. Whenever I get the chance I am either vibing to vibey music or playing my instruments. I also love working on my drama/performing arts with Roz because with our production this year my role I would say is different to who I am, so it’s fun to analyse other personalities. My other favourite specialist has to be P.E. We recently sadly said goodbye to our longtime friend and P.E teacher Michael. But luckily we have gotten a new fun and enthusiastic P.E teacher Bec. I love doing all types of sport weather it’s basketball, athletics, footy, soccer it’s always going to be a blast.

Where do you see this school going in the next 10 years?

I see CHPS having grown very big with more kids coming out and being themselves. I can see this school with lots of young little leaders. I feel as though we will grow our campus and have more and better facilities e.g the science lab will get bigger as more kids will come in with the curiosity for science, and how could I forget the organ factory toilets. I hope that if I come back in 10 years (even though we will have more school buildings as CHPS’ population grows) that the organ factory toilets have been redone and that the kids treat it with respect as well as the rest of the school.

What are your hobbies outside school?

As I mentioned before I am a musical and sporty person. I play footy and basketball, I do little athletics and I do Jazz dance. I play the Piano and Violin and for highschool I’m looking into starting Volleyball. As well as all that I am starting a podcast (with some help from the expert Lochie) with my friend Florence from footy. But when I’m not doing one of those activities, I like doing one of my most favourite things in the world, hanging out with the people I love, my family, friends and my puppy Ajay.

What makes Clifton Hill Primary School such a great school?

-How diligent the staff here are to make the school a safe and delightful place for everyone.

-They’re always putting others first before themselves.

-The teachers at this school don’t just teach—they prepare us for the road ahead.

-They’re always making sacrifices of their own to help their students.

-None of the students past and present from this school would be where they are today without the hard work and dedication they and CHPS put into helping them learn and grow.

-The positive community. Getting to come to this school and learning and growing with such positive and caring people.

-The students at this school are always helping students and themselves reaching their full potential

-How the senior years or the school are setting very good examples and role models for the junior years

I am going to miss everyone here so so so much. Unfortunately I’m the youngest of all my siblings so this is my family’s final goodbye to CHPS. I’m going to cherish all the moments from here forever.
