State Cross Country

On Thursday, July 14, 5 brave Viewbank College students braved the cold Yarra Glen air and went to state cross country.

Niamh H, Poppy S, Nik H, Eva W and Declan L all went out and ran for 3km in the cold grass, and ankle deep mud.

Our results were really great - up to 100 people enter each race, and each race is for all the students in Victoria of that year level - the top 100 kids.

This means that all those there were (for instance) the top 100 15 year old girls or boys in the state.

Niamh came 69 out of 94

Poppy placed 8th out of 96

Nik came through 80th out of 93

Eva was 86 out of 92

And Declan managed to take a podium position - 3rd place out of 97!

These were amazing results for the college, and we congratulate every one of the kids on their amazing results, regardless of what they may have scored.

They were amongst the fastest cross country runners in all of Victoria - that's about 65,000 kids PER AGE GROUP!

Fantastic efforts by all players, especially in a nail biting 1 point win over Northcote High School.

Junior Girls AFL

Junior girls AFL, on Friday 22nd July students from Years 7 & 8 represented the college at the Northern Metro Regional event for AFL Football.

The girls played fantastic in their pool matches against Preston High School and Mernda Central College, winning both games.

This put Viewbank in the final against Melbourne Girls College.

Despite showing great determination and effort, they were not able to beat Melbourne Girls.

A special thank you to Year 12 students Cassandra B and Indiana S, who volunteer to coach and train the girls.
