Being There - Connecting

Fathering Project - Everyday connecting is about finding time each day to talk and check in with your children one-on-one with your undivided interest and attention.  By checking in with your children each day, you show you care and are also in touch with how your child is feeling.  This also creates a solid base for open conversations and trust as they grow older.

Research clearly shows that being consistently involved and engaged with your child in a warm and supportive way are the fathering traits that have been shown to most positively impact a child’s health and wellbeing.

Problematic Internet Use

Excessive internet use has become even more ‘normal’ for many of us since Covid and children seem to have increased screen use to problematic proportions. This can play out as changes in behaviour, difficulties with emotional regulation, sleep disturbances, inability to focus and low energy levels.

See the eSafety Commissioner website Parents | eSafety Commissioner for up-to-date information on how to manage screen time, gaming and online safety. Setting these boundaries in the early years is an essential aspect of every child’s wellbeing and mental health.  Click here to find out more.

TPS Trivia Night

The Trivia Night Event team is calling for donations please!

During the Trivia Night there will be raffles to add to the fun and games 🤗. If you are personally, or know of an organisation, that may be in a position to donate big ticket item/s such as accommodation (nights away at hotels, air bnb etc) or experiences for families and individuals, that would be incredible to include in the Trivia night raffles. Likewise if you have any contacts that may be willing to donate their wines at cost price for the night, the event committee would love to hear from them and it would be terrific exposure on one of the biggest nights of the school year!!! Contact Alicia Hanneberry on: ahanneberry@gmail.com . The TPS Trivia Night is on Friday 19 August, 7pm at the Malvern Town Hall.

Friends of The Arts Group

Paul Dempsey has very kindly volunteered to help Miss Exintaris establish a Friends of the Arts Group.  This is a new group for TPS and is a wonderful opportunity for parents with students interested in the arts to increase community engagement in the arts at TPS.  They will need lots of helpers to get the Art Show, on 15 September organised.  There could be over 1,000 pieces of art to hang (approx 400 students x 2 -3 pieces each!!!).  If you want to get involved, please contact the office.

Fathers Day Breakfast

We are looking for an event leader to arrange the Fathers Day BBQ breakfast (and importantly run the dad joke competition!).  Email David Clark, head for the EMF Committee on david.clark@outlook.com.au

Library Helpers

There are lots of beautiful new books waiting to hit the shelves in the library, we just need some helpers to cover them.  You could pop down to the library for an hour with a friend and take part in what has to be one of the most mindful and relaxing volunteering opportunities the school has to offer!!
