If we don't take care of our own well-being, caring for others becomes difficult and sometimes impossible. Yarrabah staff, students, and families were asked to focus on what we can do to ensure our wellbeing is a priority and how we can continue to nurture ourselves and each other. Over the week staff and students participated in lots of activities focusing on wellbeing.
Here are some highlights from how we asked RUOK?
Students and staff could choose to dress in yellow. The upper secondary students made lemon slices. Lower Secondary students made paper flowers. Upper Junior students explored the tastes and smell of yellow foods like pineapples. And they made friendship bracelets with pasta. And the lower Juniors had an RUOK? yellow party.
On Tuesday, 14 September, the Upper Secondary students competed in the first-ever Yarralympic Games. They participated in an opening and closing ceremony and competed in fun games and activities celebrating the spirit of the Olympics and the cultural diversity within our school. Students dressed in colours or an outfit that highlighted their country of origin.
Last year during remote learning, Yarrabah students participated in the camp out challenge. It was a great success, so we are going to invite students to participate again this year.
Blackwood camp, where Yarrabah students have enjoyed many school camp adventures, is the brains behind this great initiative. Click on the link below to find out how your children can participate. - Please post your photos of your camp on Seesaw.
