Student Return Onsite Full Time

It was absolutely brilliant to have all the students back onsite today. They have settled back so well.

I am repeating several bits of information that have been sent out over the last couple of weeks as a reminder.

Please be aware that there have already been a few changes to the rules, and we expect they will keep changing over the course of the term – we will keep you informed as the Department updates us.

Start of the School Day

Students cannot arrive at school unsupervised until 8.45 – that is when our yard duty starts.

Students are to go straight to class from 8.45.

Parents on the School Site

Parents are asked only to enter the school site when they have to. In order to manage congestion, if you do bring your children into the school ground, please leave the site as soon as possible.

Parents are asked not to congregate together on the school site or at the school gates. We have several entry points to our block and encourage families to move to another entry if you notice your preferred entry is busy.

Parents Entering School Buildings

Parents are asked not to enter school buildings, unless they are visiting the General Office.

Every time an adult enters the building, they are required to register with our QR Code – even if you are only signing your child in late, you are required to register with our QR Code.

If parents would like to meet with their child’s teacher, please send an email to the teacher and they will contact you to organise a suitable time.

Masks

All adults are required to wear a face mask when in doors and outdoors if you cannot socially distance.

Students from Years 3 to 6 are required to wear a face mask when inside. It is highly recommended for students in Years Prep to 2. Parents must provide face masks for their children. It may be a good idea to have a spare mask in your child’s bag as a back-up, in case they soil their mask during the day or they find they have forgotten their mask when they get to school.

Student Attendance

All students are expected to attend onsite from Wednesday 3rd November. No remote learning will be provided after Friday 29th October. If parents would like to discuss their child’s return to school, please contact your child’s teacher, Dean Napier or Robyn James.

Traffic Congestion

As you will know the traffic around the school when all students are onsite is very busy.

The Kiss and Go Zones on Tooronga Road are a two minute drop off and pick up zone. Parents can stop their car but cannot leave their car to drop off their child.

If you would like to bring your child into school, please park further away from the school and walk in. The council parking officers will be out to enforce the traffic zones around schools so please ensure you follow all signs.

In order to ease traffic congestion, we encourage parents to walk their children to school. If you are driving, please park in one of the neighbouring streets and walk your child the rest of the way.

Parent Volunteers

At the moment we are not inviting parent volunteers into the school. When we do have parent volunteers back on-site they will be required to be fully vaccinated.

Unwell Children

If your child is unwell with COVID type symptoms, no matter how minor it may seem, we ask that you keep them home and take them for testing. Students can come back to school once they have a negative test result.

If your child suffers from asthma, hay fever or sinus issues, please ensure you contact the school nurse so we can support them at school. Unfortunately, the symptoms of these conditions are very like COVID symptoms, and we don’t want the students staying away from school any more than they have to.

Confirmed COVID and Isolation

If your child has been directed to isolate or tested positive to COVID, we ask that you contact the school as soon as possible (malvern.ps@education.vic.gov.au), with details of the student/s isolating, their test dates and results. This will enable us to support you and your family and provide learning activities to the child/ren.
