Walking and Wheeling to School

Next Wednesday will be the first day we are all back at school and it is super exciting as next Wednesday will be our first WALK AND WHEEL WEDNESDAY for the term!

This means that each class will record how many students walked, wheeled or scootered to school and the class with the highest percentage will win the Walk and Wheel Trophy. 3RP have won it many times this year and I wonder if they will be the class with the highest percentage again?

Winning the trophy isn't the most important aspect of Walk and Wheel Wednesday though. The following benefits are what make riding,  walking, scooting or skating to school important -

  • it reduces traffic congestion around the school, leading to quieter and safer streets for everyone,
  • it increases the independence and confidence in children,
  • it improves road and personal safety skills and knowledge, and
  • it maintains and improves our general health and wellbeing.

To help you plan which travel route will be the best for you, please open the document below and you will fine some simple steps to get you on your way.

National Ride2School Day Poster Competition.

Win a new BYK bike and helmet!

Do you love to draw or design? Well, this is your chance to show off those skills.

Ride2School is looking for your help to design their poster for National Ride2School Day 2022! They want a poster that celebrates the fun of walking, riding, scooting and skating to school and inspires even more students to get active.

The winning poster design will become the official National Ride2School Day poster and be shared in schools across Australia in time for National Ride2School Day on Friday 25 March 2022.

Remember – if your design is chosen, you’ll win a brand new BYK bike and helmet!

Open and print off the attached document above. Think about all of the fun we have at school when students walk, ride, scoot or skate and design an awesome poster!

You never know, you might be the chosen winner! Last year, students from all across all year levels at the school entered last year's sticker competition  and Yee Chern in Year 6 was the winner and she won a bike and helmet!

Make sure you email your entries to ride2school@bicyclenetwork.com.au by November 30th.

Here is Yee Chern's winning sticker design!

I look forward to seeing everyone back at school!
