Performing Arts News

Although the WPS Music Room has been pretty quiet for a while now, it’s great to hear some our instruments being played out in the Warrandyte community! At the start of this term, our Year 5 students were invited to borrow the ukuleles so they could participate in live webex sessions to learn some simple tunes using the Island strumming pattern and basic chords, while the Year 3&4 students are exploring the woodwind (or, internal duct flute) sounds of the recorder. During Camp Week, all students were encouraged to create their own instruments made from recycled materials. Thanks to everyone who sent in photos of their very imaginative designs. I look forward to seeing students demonstrate their instruments live when we return onsite!

I’m also looking forward to seeing our State Schools Spectacular dancers (pictured above with assistant dance director Hara Papoulias) rehearse a medley of some of the dances they prepared for this year’s show. Although the arena performances were sadly cancelled, we still hope to share some of their cool moves with you all at either a live, or recorded, assembly performance.
