VTAC application reminders for Year 12 students

  • You must complete all course essential requirements for selection and application by the dates specified to ensure your application will be considered – this may include additional admission requirements (eg. tests, interviews, folios, auditions, supplementary forms) and these are found in the course listing on VTAC (click on the course link in your preference list or find using VTAC CourseSearch). 
  • VTAC communicates directly with you about courses you have submitted (including course requirements that must be met) via the message inbox in your VTAC account and to your email – check both regularly and after making any changes to your VTAC application. 
  • Only paid applications will be forwarded to tertiary institutions to be considered for a course offer (as per VTAC Important dates).
  • You can continue to add, remove or reorder courses (except for early closing courses) in your VTAC course preference list up to 20 December 2021 for first round offers (see Change of Preference section at VTAC Important dates). 
  • New and Cancelled courses are listed on the VTAC website here
  • Continue to refer to the VTAC app info tab in the Class of 2021 Careers Channel on TEAMs as it is a summary of important info on applying via VTAC and contact me directly if you are still unsure how to proceed.

REMINDER: Victorian Scholarship opportunities

VTAC Scholarships applications are now closed, but Year 12s can still apply toVIC scholarships offered by other organisations. 

Either by applying direct to the institution and you can find a list here. Or Department of Education and Training manage a number of scholarship opportunities for Year 12s undertaking tertiary study in 2022 - these can be found on their Student Scholarships website with scholarships specific to Year 12s listed here. Students are encouraged to research these scholarship opportunities to check eligibility, and be informed of the application process and deadlines.

Myfuture Webinar for Parents: Preparing today's learners for uncertainty – Tuesday 9 November, 1pm to 2pm

'Uncertainty tolerance' (UT), or how we process and respond to unknown or complex situations, is increasingly recognised as an essential workplace skill. In this webinar, Monash University Associate Professor Michelle Lazarus will focus on how parents can identify and support their school’s initiatives in developing students’ uncertainty tolerance to prepare them for their futures in further education and work. This session will:

  • define uncertainty tolerance
  • identify why uncertainty tolerance is a critical workplace skill
  • discuss the impacts of uncertainty tolerance development on students’ success
  • outline practical methods for supporting your learner’s uncertainty tolerance development.

Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) Open Day – Saturday 20 November

Considering a career in games, 3D or VFX? Discover the courses designed to get you started in game development, 3D animation, film and visual effects at the AIE Open Day. This event will be held at AIE Campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. MYSci at Monash Science Precinct – 18 to 20 January 2022

The Monash Science researchers are tackling issues of global significance. MYSci is a three-day science program specifically designed for students who will be in Year 11 and 12 in 2022. This program schedule will include: 

  • hands-on workshops 
  • access to Monash Science teaching facilities 
  • opportunity to meet some of Monash’s Research Scientists 
  • exposure to potential career pathways 
  • activities with the Young Scientists of Australia, and
  • social activities.

Chisholm Institute support for 2021 school leavers

Chisholm offers pathways to Higher Education courses with direct entry into a select range of bachelor and postgraduate qualifications, or build technical skills in a diploma with a specialised industry-specific focus and receive a fast tracked entry into a degree program. To further support students, Chisholm is holding over 150 online information sessions throughout the remainder of 2021 and into 2022. Is there a job out there you think you would absolutely love? It can be hard to know exactly what a job is like unless you have hands-on experience. Unfortunately, this isn’t always possible. Free TAFE courses for 2022 have been announced!

The Victorian Government has announced that from January 2022, Free TAFE will expand to offer more than 60 courses to help address Victoria’s future skills and training needs. To find out more click here.
