Celebrating a Social Life

Whilst we continue our remote learning in the Boarding House we have been fortunate to embrace the opportunity to be social as a family. I recognise and greatly appreciate the hard work our Chef, Ms Cindy See, goes to - catering for the needs of the boarders and families onsite. Last week, Cindy created a Chinese banquet for the boarders and staff to enjoy. We all dressed up for the occasion and had an evening ‘out’, which was wonderful for everyone’s social wellbeing.

Connected With the Community

In keeping connected with our community it was a pleasure to host our boarding families’ zoom meeting this week. With over 30 families connected for the hour online, Dr Hirst informed the group on recent developments regarding vaccinations, COVID protocols, and how  College is preparing for many events next term to hopefully have our families able to celebrate the year face to face. Kristen Waldron (Deputy of Student Wellbeing), Abbie Cameron (Head of Macdonald House) and Lise Lowe (House Mother) provided an update on our boarders and how best to support them throughout lockdowns.

A highlight of the evening was a family Kahoot quiz, where many sons and daughters helped their parents learn more about the Boarding House and our boarders. With parents from overseas, locally, interstate and listening in whilst working the farm, it was wonderful to see so many engaged together.

The meeting was recorded for those who were unable to attend the evening.

I thank Boarding Parent Association representatives, Linda Andersen and Jane Hetherington for their assistance in organising the evening.
