From the Senior School Sports Master

The College has been working hard to interpret the rapidly changing guidelines set down by the NSW Government in order to reboot our sports programs.

Below is a summary of the College's road map for Term 4 sport as we learn to live with COVID-19 and prepare for a resumption of full competition across all sports in Term 1, 2022.

Updated COVID Protocols will be advised in the week prior to the commencement of any inter-school (games against other schools) competition.

Whilst the summary below covers all our main summer sports, there is additional information in the individual sports sections which should be referred to.

Senior School Basketball

It is very exciting to be planning the return of Basketball in 2021. With the fluidity of the current health situation and with Government guidelines changing at pace, we are still implementing the finer details. Whilst the ISA are not running a formal season this term, we would like our boys to engage in sport as quickly as feasible. Essentially our goal is to have all Basketball players active this term, trialling and representing SPX as appropriate. This will leave us in good stead for the formal ISA season commencing in Term 1, 2022.

Trials: Have commenced and will continue during triple PE periods at Oxford Falls.

Training: Will commence next week (Wk 6). The schedule is as follows:

*As the Year 7’s are a large group and considering the fact that one court at Oxford Falls is unavailable for use due to the HSC, 25 Year 7 players will remain at Chatswood campus for training. They will be notified the day prior at their triple PDHPE session.

For Oxford Falls sessions boys will be bussed to and from the venue. The buses should return to Chatswood around 5.30 pm.

Games: Whilst the program is still being finalised, we will commence Saturday games in Week 6. Times will be confirmed closer to the games. More information to follow on singlet and uniform requirements.
