Message From Our

Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back to term 4! It was lovely to see lots of smiling, happy children back at school this week. Sacred Heart is humming once again! The sounds coming from the learning spaces and around the playground brings joy to us all. It’s been so good to watch the children slip back into school routines, reconnect with their friends and teachers and resume school life once again. We are especially looking forward to seeing Year 5/6 tomorrow. The staggered return to school for 3-6 classes will continue next week, with all classes back on site on Tuesday, October 26th.

I know everyone is hoping that the remainder of the term is uninterrupted. There was a scheduled pupil free day on Monday, 1st November but that has now been cancelled and all students will be expected at school. The following day, November 2nd is a public holiday and the school will be closed.

Thank you to parents for all the support and positivity you have provided your child as they have juggled the many changes over the past few weeks. I strongly urge you to support them to resettle back into the school routine further by helping them be at school on time each day. Please make every effort possible to schedule appointments out of school hours and be sure your child arrives at school before the bell each day. This will greatly assist them to settle back into the learning that is so important. If you are having concerns with how your child is managing the return to school, please contact either myself or your child’s teacher so we can provide the necessary support. Unfortunately, non-essential visitors are not allowed on school sites for the near future. This means that parents are not able to enter the building but can ring the office or email staff should you require anything. Once again, thank you for all your support and patience. It has greatly been appreciated.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has directed that face masks are now required for students in Year 3 to 6 indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies. Please see coronavirus.vic.gov.au for the latest face mask requirements.

There are a number of lawful reasons for not wearing a face mask, including for staff and students who are unable to wear a face mask due to the nature of their disability, medical or a mental health condition. Please notify your class teacher if an exemption applies to your child. We ask that families send face masks to school with their Year 3-6 child and explain to them the correct way to wear them safely and hygienically.

We are currently seeking nominations for our School Advisory Board 2022. Becoming a member of our School Advisory Council [SAC] is an excellent way for parents to become involved in the life of the school. There is further information regarding the SAC on the flyer in this newsletter or Maria Spedding, our SAC Chair, members of the SAC or myself are available for further information. Nominations must be received by October 22nd.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us always.
