Library News

Howdy all,

You may be aware, as outlined in the latest school operations guide handed out by the Department, school libraries are closed for the foreseeable future. (I’ve always wondered about that term, ‘foreseeable future’? Whose ability to see into the future are they predicating this time measurement on? And more interestingly, where are these time seers hiding out??) Anyway, unfortunately, this means borrowing is off the cards too.

I know. I feel your pain. But it is an explicit directive from the Department. So there we have it.

As of next week I’ll be reading to classes via the seesaw platform until those classes are back onsite. These sessions aren’t scheduled in your student’s school day. The videos can be viewed whenever it suits.

Once classes are back I will be reading to them in their classrooms, as opposed to the library. Still no borrowing though. For the ‘foreseeable future’.

I’m exploring ways in which students can access the world of books via our library app. I’ll email families via compass with the details when I have it sorted.

Until then, (insert whatever phrase currently floats your boat. I think we’re all over being told to keep safe, look after ourselves, reach out, try to take some time for ourselves, make sure to exercise etc. Personally, I’m trying to limit eyeball rolls. ;) )

Kim, back in the closed library. Oh the irony…

P.S. And if anyone has some intel on these future seers I’m keen to hear about it ;)
