Year 3 News

Haiku Poems

This week the Year 3 students have begun exploring poetry. To begin the week, students have been learning how to write Haiku poems.

Haiku is a short form poetry originally from Japan. A Haiku poem consists of only three lines.

The first line includes 5 syllables.

The second line includes 7 syllables.

The final line includes 5 syllables.

Students have created their own free choice topics and also Haiku pieces that have focused on their current Unit of Inquiry: Sharing the Planet - SURVIVAL OF A SPECIES IS DEPENDENT ON ITS ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS.

We have been very proud of the student’s creativity and additionally their knowledge of syllables to create beautiful examples of Haiku.

The Year 3 teachers and students would like to welcome Finn Lester and the Lester family to BNPS. Welcome back to Curtis returning to BNPS after spending a term at Dinner Plain
