M4 and F15 Buddy News

This year M4 and F15 have been Buddy Classes. The two classes have worked together on some visual art activities, fitness lessons and on tasks where we have celebrated special events such as Harmony Day, Book Week and Sports Day. Some children from F15 have also peer mentored M4 in Literacy and Numeracy skills.

“We have helped our buddies with Maths, Writing, Spelling, craft skills and team building skills. In the peer tutoring sessions we looked specifically at addition sums and creatively constructing sentences” - Lara

“I think it is a really fun program because our buddies got to learn new things and it was a great teaching experience for us” - Alyssa

“I love giving creative, individual feedback about Spelling and Maths as well as seeing how much our Year 3 buddies have improved over the year” - Phoenix

"It was fun doing art with the Year 3s. My buddy was Aiden and we collaborated on the task to create a bright and colourful bear." - Kevin

"The River Crossing Race was really fun. We used good collaborative skills and we communicated effectively to win the race." - Gabrielle

Year 4 Woodhouse Camp

This term the Year 4s were lucky enough to travel to Woodhouse in the Adelaide Hills. They were amazing at organising laser skirmish, orienteering, bouldering, survivor and tube slide.

Learning Intentions: To continue to build and strengthen cross cohort relationships ready for upper primary; and to develop a sense of independence and responsibility.

Some student comments:

"I loved camp, it was amazing! My favourite activity was the laser skirmish game, but my least favourite thing was the survival one or the tube slide because I only did it once being that it was so scary! Since I didn’t do the tube slide I helped people get their tube’s up the hill".

"If you were to go on a camp for a night anywhere in the world where would you go? Well as a Year 4 I rarely go to camp because of Covid but just about 2 days ago my school well our year 4 classes went to… Woodhouse!"

"I was with most of my friends and I slept in a bunk house with lots of bunk beds and my friend Indigo and I slept in Hooper room six all the way at the end of the hall. We were right next to the bathroom which was really good because it was easy to get up and out of bed to go to the bathroom."
