Swearing in of School Captains

Molong Central School’s school captains for 2021-22 were sworn in a special assembly on Tuesday 26 October. Congratulations are extended to our new captains, William Thorne and Hayden Bliss and our new vice captains, Vaughn Quelnan and Maddison Treacy.

This year’s ceremony was quite special because it was the inaugural year for the swearing of a pledge or Oath of Office for the Captains. As well as receiving their Captain’s badge, the captains signed a document committing themselves to serving and representing the school, its parents, students and teachers in the best manner possible at all times. This document will be kept in perpetuity in our new ‘Captain’s Book’, providing a record of School Leadership for years to come.

A copy of the pledge sworn by the Captains is published below.

As a School Captain at Molong Central School I pledge that I will fulfil my responsibilities and represent the values, honour and dignity of the School at all times, and in all places.
I understand that this requires me to:
Uphold daily the values and Code of Behaviour of the school and model the school’s motto of Excelsior- ‘Strive for Excellence’.
Display integrity in all my actions and all my communications.
Show empathy towards others and act as mentor, friend and helper to all.
Use manners, courtesy and good grace in all my dealings.
Treat others fairly and honestly, always respecting and striving to maintain their personal dignity.
Advocate for and take pride in the students, staff, community, activities and achievements of Molong Central School.

The ceremony was conducted in front of our current Year 12 year group and teachers, while the remainder of the school and parents of the captains viewed on from their classrooms. Many thanks are extended to Mr Akers, Mr Taprell and Miss Ebert for the use of their technological skills to make this possible.

Masters of Ceremony for this event, current Prefects Stella Johnston and Tim Rapley, performed beautifully in hosting this event, their first whole school leadership opportunity in a very disjointed and unusual year. Well done Stella and Tim!
