Online Chess Tournament

We are offering 4 Primary School online tournament events during the next 2 weeks, including one for the Junior Primary students in Prep to Grade 3.  These are qualifying events for our State Finals program (scroll down for more details)

Bookings and payment will be taken individually through Trybooking.  If you would like your chess playing students to have the opportunity to take part, please forward this email to their families and encourage them to join in the fun.  On booking, full instructions will be sent for joining the tournament.

If any school prefers to organise their own players, instead of throwing it open to the families on Trybooking, or if you have any questions, please email  info@northernstarchess.com

Interschool State Finals

  • We would dearly like to hold our finals as face to face tournaments, if at all possible.  Obviously we cannot do this prior to 5 November, and as we want to allow some more leeway we are hoping to conduct finals late November or start of December, with vaccinated staff and in compliance with any other regulations in force at that time.
  • We are mindful of the possibility that rules may be in place that prevent face to face chess.  If so, we shall conduct an online finals series, but we do have a strong preference for the face to face version if at all possible.
  • While nothing can be considered certain at this stage, we should be able to offer state level events for students who have managed to qualify from our zonals this year.  Notifications will be sent to qualified students (via school or parent) as soon as we have a definite plan.

Junior Primary State Final qualification

Prior to this year, students could only qualify for the Junior Primary State Final from Junior Primary zonals.  However, since there have not been many Junior Primary zonals conducted this year, we have decided to make an exception in 2021.  We are qualifying the top Junior Primary level students at each zonal event conducted for the JP State Final.
