VET COURSES AND ENROLMENTS FOR 2022

Part A referrals are now being undertaken and Registered Training Organisations are arranging the testing that must be completed before offers can be made. This is a requirement for every person wanting to complete a VET course to ensure they have the necessary skills to be successful. The testing takes around 20 minutes and is tailored to fit each course. For example electricians respond to questions about electrical work and child care workers respond to questions about working with children.

If students have not sent in their Unique Student Identification (USI) or evidence from work experience then they have not been enrolled into a course. Applications are closing at the end of this month. If students would like to do a course then it might not be too late if there are vacancies. Courses are filling.

VET STUDENT OUTCOMES

Declan Quilliam - School based apprentice

Declan was undertaking the Cert II Construction Pathways course here at Aberfoyle Park High School. From his placement he was offered an apprenticeship. As Declan wants to complete his SACE he has taken on a school-based apprenticeship, which means he will attend school two days per week and work for three days while he completes the compulsory SACE requirements in year 11. He is undertaking a Certificate III in Carpentry which gives him credits to complete his SACE.

Due to his commitment, enthusiasm and thirst for learning, Declan’s manager was keen to teach him more and have him working alongside him. We wish Declan all the best as he begins his journey into the apprenticeship world.

Ashton Chandler - full-time apprenticeship

Ashton was enrolled into the Cert II Auto Servicing Technology course when an opportunity came along to do work placement within the civil construction industry. Having met with Mas National to discuss apprenticeship opportunities they were actually looking for students keen to work in the field of civil. As Ashton’s main goal and interest is to work in diesel mechanics, work experience was arranged.

During the holidays Ashton worked on site and the company was extremely impressed with his interest of learning, hardworking attitude and enthusiasm. They have offered him a full-time position starting on November 1. We wish Ashton all the best on his journey into the work force.

If you would like to learn more about apprentice/traineeships then please contact Kass Holmes the VET Coordinator for an appointment to discuss further.
