“Charity is the beating heart of the Christian: just as one cannot live without a heartbeat, so one cannot be a Christian without charity”.

Pope Francis

Dearest Marian Community,

Welcome back to the final term of our College calendar. I trust that your break was a restful one and hope you are feeling rejuvenated ready to navigate your way through our final term at our College for 2021. We are reminded to continue to participate in prayer life and continue to build on the loving culture that we have strived to achieve this year. This year as a College, we have demonstrated the heavenly virtue of charity through the means of compassion, that we are capable of having hope during times where resilience is needed, and that we have faith when we need to come together.

In our final term, we look forward to taking part in our annual creation of Christmas Hampers for St Vincent De Paul. Our partnership with St Vincent De Paul continues to strengthen year by year. Students at Marian Catholic College will be promoting the gift of kindness and the spirit of Christmas. Each Homeroom will be provided with a basket for all items that are donated to be placed in. All hampers created will be presented to St Vincent De Paul at our end of year Mass and will be distributed to families in need within our community. Homeroom teachers will allocate the items to be donated during Homeroom.

Items to be donated are as follows:

Items to be Donated

Christmas Lollies

Tinned Pineapple

Christmas Pudding

Tinned Fruit Salad

Christmas Bonbons

Packets of Jelly (Red/Green)

Tinsel/Decorations

Box of Long-Life Custard

Packet of Candy Canes

Packet of Sweet Biscuit/Shortbread

Packet of Coloured Popcorn

Large Packet of Chips (Plain)

Tinned Ham

Large Packet of Chips (Flavoured)

Tinned Beetroot

Bottle of Soft Drink (Lemonade)

$5 Gift Card

Bottle of Soft Drink (Flavoured)

Collection will begin in week 3 and conclude in week 8. This will provide the Community Action Team with sufficient time to prepare the hampers for our end of the year Mass. More information about this mission project  will be provided throughout the term.

Let us continue to work together in our acts of kindness not only within our community but our world. I am reminded by a quote, “Every charitable act is a stepping stone towards heaven”. My interpretation of this is that as people of faith, we strive to become closer to God and aspire to live a life that complements living in the Image of God. Through the means of our charitable acts, we live a life as intended by God, living a life of love.

Until our next article, please be attentive during Homeroom for compass notices as I will be posting more information in relation to all our mission news for this term.

“I alone cannot change the world. But I can cast a stone across the waters

to create many ripples”.

Saint Mother Teresa

Yours in faith,
