BREATHE THE SPIRIT OF LIFE #10

The pandemic has certainly taught us that we can never assume that life will not challenge our security and peace or that at times we must simply trust in the timeliness of vaccines, of government decisions, and of God’s good time. The fears and sufferings of so many across our world and even in our own local contexts is sure proof of that. Each of us then has learned, whether for good or ill, our dependence on one another and on patient trust.

SCRIPTURE: Deut. 31:6 “Don’t mistake God’s patience for God’s absence! God’s timing is perfect, and God’s presence is constant. God is always with us!”

We hear at times ‘why doesn’t God do something about this problem or that!’ and we can be tempted to persist with our infantile understanding of God’s role in our journeys of life. We keep forgetting that ‘God comes to us disguised as our lives’ - with all its ups and downs.

Reflection from Brother Robert O'Connor F.M.S (Marist Brothers)

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

Welcome to Term Four! Last week the College farewelled our Year 12 students under Covid compliant conditions. Fortunately, this group of students have always shown adaptability and flexibility in many ways over the past few years so having “masks on”, elbow bumps and social distancing was not a problem.

Parents and family zoomed in to watch the event and I thank everyone involved for their understanding. There are now tutorials occurring in most subjects to help keep them focussed on the HSC examinations next month and I ask that you keep them in your prayers and thoughts.

My thanks also to their teachers, leadership staff and Pastoral Leader Mr Morris for their work not only last week but throughout their time at Marian. Congratulations to our new student leadership team who were announced last week. College Captains Claudia Torresan and Jayden Skirving, Vice-Captains Lexi Salvestro and Nicholas Sartor.

The full 2022 leadership team will be announced in the coming weeks. The other exciting news from last week has been to teaching staff relocating into the new staff centre. It seems like a short while ago the old convent was knocked down and now we are occupying a wonderful new space. The staff are really happy with the new surroundings!

The TAS Block is ahead of schedule, though won’t be ready until the commencement of next year. The next stage to begin very soon is the new student classrooms and entranceway in

the old staffrooms. Work has already commenced in preparation for the refurbishment so as you drive along Wakaden St you will see more changes soon.

Finally, I have included a new vaccination day-“Super Sunday” below for those wishing to get the “jab”.

Peace and Best wishes
