Library News

Howdy all,

Today, the 3rd of June is the last day of National Reconciliation Week for this year. The 3rd of June, 1992, is when the Mabo decision was handed down. There is info below about that case from Reconciliation Australia. Well worth a read.

In the library, we didn't get the chance to look at the issues around reconciliation, what it means and what we can do to help this process. But actually, this is an ongoing question that we will be coming back to again and again.

In the meantime, here's a link to a beautiful book that speaks to Country and connection for many Aboriginal Australians. The first time I read this book I was in tears. Such a quiet, gentle read and yet so profoundly moving. I loved it (though it does have a baby in it and meaningful cultural ritual so it's kinda hard not to love it!).

Hope you're all doing ok. Ok is enough at the moment eh?

Kim 🙂
