RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan)

Hi all,

Well, National Reconciliation Week didn't go quite as planned... but I hope you had time to enjoy the Aboriginal picture story books that were posted on Compass over the last week. Each book has such a strong presence.

To end National Reconciliation Week for this year, I've included a link to a Paul Kelly song, From little things big things grow'.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vut1ntcRMdQ&ab_channel=ReconciliationAus

It runs for 9 and a half minutes, with the song given context by two prominent Aboriginal artists, filmmaker Rachel Perkins and singer/songwriter Kev Carmody.

I obviously knew the song but I hadn't picked up on the story details. It fits in so well with this year's NRW theme - More than a word. Action is what's required now. I hope you can watch it, maybe share it with your family.

So, here's to National Reconciliation Week. Hopefully next year we'll get the whole week onsite at school to explore what reconciliation means on a deeper level.

And for those with access to a printer attached is a colouring in activity for young and old. Designed by Jessica Johnson, the woman responsible for this year's NRW poster, it comes with a page explaining the symbols used in her poster, which helps put the images in context.

Yours, on behalf of the RAP committee,

Kim
