What a day!

GLOBAL RUNNING DAY

Wednesday 2 June 2021 is Global Running Day. It is a day that celebrates the sport of running. It is held annually on the first Wednesday of June and this year runs until June 6.

As a school community, we are hoping to see many of our members lace up their shoes and 'run the world' with thousands of other participants in celebration of the day that encourages everyone to stay active and healthy. For those students, parents and families who get involved in a creative and appropriate way e.g run around your backyard, house or neighbourhood, house points will be awarded when you send in photo(s) and/or a short 5-10 second video of you being active and/or running to:

A DAY TO REMEMBER!

NBL’s Melbourne United takes over the school!!!!

On Thursday 20 May, after a morning of basketball clinics for grades 4 - 6 run by Melbourne United coaches, the Melbourne United playing line-up faced off against Murrumbeena’s finest.

A selection of students from grades 3 - 6 played against the Melbourne United team, only narrowly defeated 21-26. It was amazing to have them take time out of their busy season, where they are currently top of the NBL ladder, nearing the end of the regular season!

The breaks between quarters provided a lot of entertainment, with a quarter-time dance off, a half-time dress and dribble between grade 2 students, and a three-quarter time free throw competition against Miss Seares.

Everyone had a great day and all students really enjoyed the clappers, ice-creams and show bags provided by sponsors.

Special thanks to the school and house captains for assisting in putting together over 500 show bags!!

Thanks to the staff and community for getting involved in the day and helping create an incredible atmosphere.

Thanks for a wonderful day, Kmart and Melbourne United; one that will be remembered for many years to come and that we hope we can do again!

We’ll start training now…

SSV STATE SOCCER TRIALS

On Wednesday 26 May, I went to the School Sport Victoria soccer trials in Casey Fields for the southern region. There were about 30 girls there and 20 of them were invited to progress to the next state trials.

I was lucky enough to get through to the next round. We played 5 games and spent the day there. The competition was very strong and it was good fun playing against some older girls. The next round was meant to be on the 2 June but has been postponed because of COVID. I’m looking forward to the next trial.
