Celebrating Achievement
Charlotte Jonsen (Year 9) recently competed at the 13-15yr School State Age Championships in Bundaberg for Peninsula. The girls had a wonderful experience and learned how to play hard, and finished 10th overall. Well done, Charlotte! We are so proud of you!
Congratulations to Jett Porta (Year 7), who played in the NQ Touch Championships over the school holidays. He was selected to trial for the NQ Rep side to play in the National team in September this year on the Sunshine Coast. Jett was successful in being selected as one of 30, 12 year old boys from players from as far as Mackay! Jett also trialled for the National Team on the weekend and was fortunate to be one of only 14 boys selected. Well done, Jett! Keep up the awesome effort!
Congratulations to Sienna Hodgson (Year 8) who participated in a wakeboard comp on Sunday. Sienna did incredibly well and received a gold medal in the Under 15 women, a gold in Under 18 women and a silver in Open women! These are incredible results! Well done, Sienna, we're so proud of you!
Congratulations to Savannah Midgley (Year 9) who competed in the La Folie Aerial Silks QLD State Championships in Brisbane on Saturday. Her incredible strength, flair and determination secured Savannah third place in the Debutante category. This is an amazing result! Well done, Savannah!
Ashlee Scarcella (Year 11) has recently signed up as a School Based Apprentice with Cashcor Engineering. Her apprenticeship will be as a fitter and turner. Congratulations, Ashlee.
Ollie Salerno (Year 12) has recently signed up as a School Based Apprentice with Ochre Restaurant and Catering. Her apprenticeship will be Cert III in Commercial Cookery. Congratulations, Ollie.
On Wednesday 19th May, members of the St Mary's community participated in the 4km Fun Run as part of the Master’s Games being held in Cairns this weekend. The event raised money for Kick on Charity. Mr Justin Brennan was placed 1st for male runners and Piper Devine and Lara Lane were placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Lots of fun was had by all and it was very exciting to talk to Natalie Cook – 5 times Olympian winning gold twice while representing Australia in Beach Volleyball.

Congratulations to Laneekah Saltner-Garrett (Year 12) who recently represented the Peninsula region at the 16-19 yrs Netball Regional Championships. Laneekah played exceptionally well and received a coach's medal after the tournament. Outstanding effort!
Congratulations to Daniel Browning (Year 11) who has just signed up as a School Based Apprentice with Willdig Group in Gordonvale. Daniel will be completing a Cert III in Engineering Mechanical Trade - Maintenance-Diesel Fitting. Well done Daniel.
Congratulations to Lachlan Kelly (Year 9), who represented peninsula at the QLD Schools State Championships sport 13-15 years Rugby League held on the Sunshine Coast. The team played very well to place 6th in a tough competition. Well done, Lachlan.
Congratulations to St Mary’s runners who competed at the Peninsula Cross-Country Trials on Friday. We had some amazing results with the following students securing a position on the Peninsula team to represent the region at the State Cross Country championships in Ipswich in July.
