SMCC Board

Board Report

This year, the Board has been energised by the inclusion of our four new members and, as a team, we’re excited about the opportunity we have to contribute to the shared wisdom of the College.  Our meetings to date have provided us with insight into the purpose of the Board and we’ve received valuable support in this area from staff at Catholic Education Services Cairns.

Pastoral care priorities for students are under review at the moment.  At our May meeting, pastoral staff members presented us with detailed information about student wellbeing and personal growth.  We learned about historical statistics, policies and processes and were introduced to the vision and planning for the future in this area.  At our next meeting, as part of our shared wisdom culture, Board members will discuss their thoughts and reflections about student pastoral care.

Looking ahead to July, we’re excited to again be hosting our annual Immersion Day at St Mary’s College, when a team of people from the College community will join us in a full day of observations and reflection on the operations of the College during a normal school day.
