Canvas

Staff are passionate about improving their skills and use of Canvas. Canvas is St Mary’s learning management platform. It is where educators share learning resources with students as well as work collaboratively in discussions and Google Docs. Staff participated in a three part workshop during collaborative planning to refine their knowledge in Canvas.

Students can expect to find up to date assignments and draft due dates by accessing either their Canvas course or their Canvas calendar.

Available Software

Digital Literacy is a strong focus for us at St Mary’s. Examples of what this might look like for a student here is understanding how to use web browsers, search engines, email, text, wiki, blogs, Photoshop, Powerpoint, video creation/editing software, etc. to showcase learning. Most importantly it's the fluency of which an individual can evaluate the use and adapt to varying digital platforms. It is for this reason that St Mary’s confidently uses a wide variety of resources. We predominantly utilise the Google for Education platform for student storage and organisation, as this allows us to freely save and organise Microsoft files as well.

A reminder that the following software is made available to all College students at no extra cost:

  • Google for Education
  • Microsoft Office 365 – Students are entitled to 5 free copies
  • Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
    • Installation instructions available via the ICT Support on the Student Portal.

If your child is studying a subject that requires a specific piece of software, the class teacher will advise how to download it onto their device.
