Online Learning & Lockdown
Apologies firstly that this newsletter is out a little later than normal. The end of last week had a few complications that were a higher priority.
By now everyone is back into lockdown and the school is operating remotely. We appreciate how challenging this is for everyone - families, students and teachers alike. Please stay strong, keep positive and we will work through any issue as it arises. We also know everything won't go perfectly, so be patient and let us know how we can help.
Education Week & Open Night
Unfortunately we had to cancel Open Night last week. Please keep your calendar open for a replacement date so we can showcase the school and provide the connection to all our community partners.
Classroom Communications
We have made some changes to streamline communication from teachers to parents, and the newsletter will be vital looking forward. In the newsletter there will be two important items under each of the Year Level pages - some highlight reports on past events and classroom activities (rostered through the year levels) and a 'looking forward' section that includes the curriculum focus for the next 2 weeks. The curriculum focus will address what each year level will be doing for Literacy, Numeracy, SEL and Inquiry in the weeks ahead.
This section replaces the email sent home to parents, puts past and future activities in one place and is always accessible online through the website link to newsletters.
School Initiatives
A reminder of a couple of initiatives being run in the school by students:
Bread Bags and Tags - please collect as many of these as possible up until 25 June. The bread bags can be placed in the boxes around the school and the tags taken to the office. This is an initiative of our Environment Captains.
MND Big Freeze - a massive initiative by 5 of our Level 6 Leaders. Please have a look at the later page in the newsletter for information on their BigFreeze Slide Day and the MND Beanies for sale.
School Start Time
This may seem a little out of place while we are in lockdown, however it has been very noticeable how many students are turning up for school late each day. We have a small flood of children through the office between 9.00-9.15am each day.
Can I remind parents of the importance of arriving at school on time. I know it is challenging around car parking but please make an effort to get your children here by 9.00am. Classes start immediately - children are missing out those few vital minutes and teachers have to re-set/re-explain their session as each new arrival comes in the door.
