Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

It's with sadness and celebration that we say farewell to one of our staff at the end of the term, and best wishes to another. At the end of this term Sepi Farsoodeh Salighe will be leaving us to take up a position at Thornbury Secondary College.  Sepi has been an amazing addition to our Education Support team assisting students across the school.  It is most definitely Thornbury's gain and our loss, however we certainly understand that it is far less travel time for Sepi so she can spend more time with her family.  We thank her for her contribution to our school and wish her all the very best at her new setting.

At the end of this term we also say 'see you later' rather than good-bye to Kim Paccagnan as she and her partner prepare to welcome the newest addition to their family. We trust all will go very smoothly for the impending birth of their child and we wish the family all the best.  We look forward to a visit as soon as mum and bub are able, and look froward to Kim returning to our staff as soon as she, and her family, are ready for her to.

Later this week, you will be able to access your child's semester one report on Xuno.  As has been mentioned previously parent-teacher interviews will be held (face to face hopefully) on Tuesday and Thursday of week two, term three. On Tuesday July 20th, students will be dismissed at 1:30pm with interviews commencing at 2pm through until 6:30pm.  On the Thursday, school will finish at the normal time with interviews from 3:40 - 4:40pm. This will allow sufficient time slots for all families to see their child's classroom teacher/s. OSHC will be available from 1:30pm on Tuesday July 20th for those families requiring care. A notification will be sent to parents informing them when bookings open up later this week.

In a slight change from previous years, our specialist teachers will all be housed in The Hive and will be available on a walk-up, rather than booking in, basis to discuss your child's progress on parent-teacher interview nights. Feel free to arrive before your scheduled classroom teacher meeting to chat with them, or set some time aside after your classroom teacher booking to stop by and have a conversation.

We are now taking enrolments for the 2022 school year, and we would encourage any families at the school who have a prep child for next year to please lodge their enrolment forms as soon as possible so we can start our planning processes.  Enrolment forms can be found at the office.

An end of term reminder that school finishes this Friday at 2:30pm.  OSHC will be available from 2:30pm for those families booked in.  For all others, please make the necessary arrangements for an earlier finish to what has been a very interesting term.

Finally, a very big thank you to all in our community for your patience, understanding and good wishes as we endured our fourth lockdown.  By all accounts the majority of students successfully adapted to remote and flexible learning, ably supported by their parents or carers. It is a testament to the dedication and care of our staff that the students could pivot so readily to remote learning so on behalf of the school I'm sure you will join me in thanking them for their hard work during this time.

I wish your family all the very best for the school vacation period and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready to tackle the second half of 2021 with a vengeance!.

Please note our rescheduled curriculum day is now the first day of term three, July 12th. Students are not required on this day, however OSHC will be available to those families who require care.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
