CHINESE

After having finished our Portfolio tasks it’s wonderful to see the kind of learning that students have achieved this term. Many of our students in the upper grades are showing a wonderful ability to read and understand Chinese. Not only this, but some are even managing to write their own stories and with some amazing Chinese grammar.

Our younger students have been showing a strong knowledge of the days of the week and times of the day. They’ve also shown a growing ability to follow along with stories in Chinese both when told and when they are reading.

As a teacher it truly is encouraging to see such a high level of understanding amongst our students, it something that our Delacombe students should be proud of!

As we move on, we look forward to learning more about how to draw some of the Chinese characters we know, how they are made up, and the stories behind them. The upper grades will continue to look at making up their own stories in Chinese.
