Brentwood wins Monash Division Cross Country

Brentwood sent one of its smallest teams to compete at the Monash Division cross country carnival this year. All students had the opportunity to compete in the selection trials to represent Brentwood. The team that did compete at Norton’s Park did exceptionally well and I am very proud of our results. The rain held off and it was perfect conditions to run the 3km/5km events.

Brentwood won the Junior Shield, Intermediate shield and the Overall Shield! Well done! We were only 25 points behind winning the Senior shield. A huge achievement from our team.

** Jack Ratcliffe showed incredible sportsmanship. A fellow athlete stopped in the race, due to injury, and Jack stopped to help him, forfeiting his chance of progressing to EMR. Jack you are a true competitor.

We wish all students, who have qualified to compete at the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) on June 15, good luck as both individual runners and as a team of runners.

Thank you to Mr McCormick, Ms Chancellor, Ms Bull, Ms Bradley, Mrs Burke, Mr Wilson, and Mr Clayton. Your encouragement, officiating and assistance throughout the day ensured our Brentwood team had the best opportunities.

2021 SSV Virtual Cross Country

Built on the success of the 2020 Virtual Cross Country event, SSV is delighted to provide this great opportunity again in 2021. Victorian primary and secondary students can take part in any way they would like - they can run or walk.Students can run or walk for a new personal best or for fun and fitness. The main aim is for students to get out and give it a go. Every meter run by a student will earn virtual points for their school. Students will be given the option to submit their performance, but if they wish they also now have the additional option to not have their performance made public. #SSVVXC

Senior Girls Netball

On Friday 14th May I took two teams out to compete in senior girl’s netball at Waverley Netball Centre. The students played in a 6-team round robin format, with our toughest competition against John Monash SC. I was impressed with the student’s positive attitude, their ability to listen to the umpires and work cohesively. Students were able to adapt and play many different positions on the court.  At the end of the day both the A and B team were successful in winning their respective divisions with the A team going on to play in the Eastern Metropolitan Region tournament in August.

Congratulations to the following players: Maddie Sioulas, Ella Whitfield, Charlotte Gervasoni, Jessica Keecha-Milsom, Amelia Leach, Jennifer McDonald, Tilly Allan, Amelia Bishop (absent), Alicia Dimitrov, Kaitlyn Cavanagh, Kiahna Crawley, Talia Hazleman, Christina Missos, Chelsea Oliver, Livinia Wadhwani and Hayley Smith.

Intermediate Baseball excursion to Fielders Choice

On Tuesday the 18th of May, the intermediate school baseball team attended Fielder’s Choice baseball warehouse, for a training session in preparation for the SSV State Baseball Championships being held on Wednesday the 26th of May.

The team received specialised training by a high-level baseball coach, who helped and improved each of the players with their hitting, pitching, and fielding. Also teaching the general rules and mechanics of the game. We'd like to thank Ms Nash and Mrs Batson, as well as Mr Ballagh for this opportunity, in giving us the best chance to win the state title.
