Writer In Residence

The English Faculty is hosting Tasmanian fiction writer Lenny Bartulin as Writer in Residence from Monday 31 May until Friday 4 June, inclusive. Lenny writes across various fictional genres such as Crime Fiction and Historical Fiction and Adventure and has published titles such as 

A Deadly Business (2008), 

The Black Russian (2010 - A Jack Susko Trilogy book) 

Infamy (2013) and his most recent work; 

Fortune (2019), 

and including various short stories. He will be working with students from Years 5-12 in classes and workshops, individual feedback and meet the writer sessions, and a staff workshop. We look forward to the learning and enrichment of his residency.

High School Sports Sign up - Term 3

The following sports are on offer for Term 3. Students are asked to sign up by  Wednesday 9 June so that further information can be sent out. 

 

Any late sign-ups after this date will need to be completed directly with the sports coordinators listed. If team numbers are already viable then late sign-ups may not be allowed.

Year 7 Healthy Life Connections Day

For our Healthy Life Connections Day, students will be participating in some introductory sports sessions at, or in the vicinity of, Moonah Sports Centre and Parsons Sports Centre. The sports sessions include:

  • Racquet sports such as badminton, table tennis and pickleball.
  • Wheelchair basketball.

The dates for these activities are:

Wednesday 2 June 2021 Fry and Backhouse 

Thursday 3 June 2021 Mott and Oats  

Friday 4 June 2021 Penn and Walker 

 

Students will be transported by bus to the Sports Centres and will return to school prior to the end of the school day.

 

All students will need to wear their Sports uniform and ensure that they are wearing appropriate footwear for sports participation. Additionally, they will need a packed recess and lunch, a large drink, a bucket hat and a warm top.  Students who require medication for any medical condition, including asthma and allergies are reminded to bring this with them.

Year 10 Outdoor Education - Living with Fire

Wednesday class time will be spent at the Patrula Trail, Mount Nelson.  Here the students will continue work on ‘Living with Fire’ with a particular focus on indigenous practices.

Year 10 with Paul Dillon- Tuesday 8 June

On the morning of Tuesday 8 June all Year 10 students will have the opportunity to hear from the director and founder of Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia, Paul Dillon. Paul will discuss young people, alcohol and risk-taking and the importance of looking after yourself and your friends.
