Curriculum- Teaching and Learning

School Wide Teaching and Learning
In each edition of our school newsletter, we share with our community an insight into the curriculum being taught within our classrooms. This reflects our school's strong focus upon continuous improvement.
Each edition covers a different area of the curriculum, and is supported by our school-wide approaches to teaching and learning.
In this edition we focus upon what's been happening across the Inquiry curriculum.
We also bring your attention to a new edition of Minecraft Education titled "Minecraft Climate Warriors" which one of our families has been involved in creating.
Minecraft Climate Warriors
If you are a Minecraft gamer you may have heard of a new release of Minecraft, known as "Climate Warriors".
We are bringing this to your attention for two reasons, firstly that the edition is based on the Australian environment, and secondly because two of our students have a direct connection with the game.
Check out the information below which has been provided to us by Charlie and Dylan.
What is your connection to Climate Warriors?
Our dad works with graphic design and gaming, and he created the Climate Warriors promotional materials. It was really funny when he was doing the artwork for the poster because he kept making funny pictures with photos and characters and showing them to us.
We are really excited about the game because it can teach you all about bushfires and what we can do to help protect the environment and ourselves during a bushfire. This is pretty important because some of the families from our school live in the Dandenongs. We have put up some of the posters our dad made, and they are around the school. - Dylan and Charlie
What is Climate Warriors about?
NRMA Insurance has launched Climate Warriors, a new Minecraft world, designed to help educate and engage the next generation of Australians in understanding the importance of preparedness against the increasing risk of natural disasters, in a new initiative developed by Thinkerbell.
Set in a custom-built landscape inspired by Australian coastal towns, Climate Warriors is a free interactive game available on Minecraft Education Edition and Minecraft Marketplace that aims to educate children, aged between seven and 12, on how being prepared can further protect wildlife, homes and livelihoods against natural disasters such as bushfires.
Check out the game review below which recently aired on ABC television.
What's the Curriculum focus coming up in the next edition of the newsletter?
