Foundation: Over the past two weeks, the Foundation Students have returned to practising their Fundamental Motor Skills. In the first week, the students completed twenty minutes of P.E with Joe which took them through a range of movements to incorporate all the muscles in their body. In this session, they also worked on their hand eye coordination by executing the roll and splat technique with a tennis racquet. In week two, the students engaged in a perceptual motor skills sessions. The children were required to incorporate different body parts and movements to execute a particular skill or movement e.g. crawling through tunnel boxes, balancing a ball on a racquet and bowling a ball towards pins. 

 

Level 1 & 2: The Level 1 students returned to commence a small block of learning comprising of striking. In the first week, the children learned how to hit a ball off a T-ball stand with a T-ball bat. They learnt the importance of a controlled swing, eyes on the ball and feet positioning. 

In week two, we moved to striking a ball that was in motion. This was achieved with a cricket bat and varying ball sizes. This lesson offered up more challenges but continued to incorporate hand-eye coordination, bat swing and feet positioning.  

 

The Level 2 students commence their first week of learning with a session of P.E with Joe. This activity took them through a range of movements to incorporate all the muscles in their body. From here, they moved on to practising kicking a ball that was in motion. This was achieved through the game of kickball. This game also incorporate catching, throwing and teamwork.

In week two, the students voted upon a game of their choice to play for the lesson. Thief was the chosen game. This game involved dodging, tagging and throwing. One of the big focuses in this game was working together as a team to steal the opposition’s beanbag without being caught by the opposition team.

 

Level 3 & 4: The students in 34A and 34C participated in their third golf session (delivered by Mr. Scicluna). The focus was once again on the different types of swings involved with the game e.g. driving, chipping and putting. Within this lesson, a numeracy component was added whereby the students had to tally their scores from each station.34B students, played catch-up in week one, and participated in a lesson that involved the athletics events Shot Put and Discus. Students learned how to execute the two different push/throwing styles. 

In week two, the students voted upon a game of their choice to play for the lesson. Skittles was the chosen game. This game involved dodging, throwing, rolling and teamwork.

 

Level 5 & 6: The students in 56B participated in their third golf session (delivered by Mr. Scicluna).
