Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

2021 FOUNDATION TRANSITION

Last Thursday 15th of November, Maramba Primary School were so excited to host our first Footsteps into Foundation session via WebEx for our kindergarten children starting with us next year.  It was very exciting to see so many happy faces who will be joining us.

Our future students loved listening to the story called ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’ We then completed a fun story retell activity. We practised writing our name, colouring in the lines, pasting and using scissors correctly.

We ended our session with a little dance to get our hearts pumping, all students loved seeing all their peers and future Foundation teachers. We cannot wait for our next Footsteps into Foundation session on the 29th of October 2020.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY

It was absolutely amazing to see the school awash of footy colours form all codes today! All codes were covered from AFL, Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer League represented.

The smiles on our student’s faces was priceless. It is great that moments like these can bring such joy and happiness during these challenging times.

Best of luck to all supporters of their teams in the finals for their respective codes!

Take care and stay safe!

DISCOVERY LEARNING – YEAR 1 and 2

Year 1 and 2 have been investigating and learning about the ‘Past, Present & Future’. Last week they were lucky enough to have a classroom visit from staff member Ms Lynda Gange. Ms Gange spoke to the children about how Maramba Primary School began, how the classrooms looked and also the specialist and playground areas. The children prepared many questions for Ms Gange including:

  • Did you use the cane?
  • What did the classrooms look like?
  • What equipment did they have?

Ms Gange has been a teacher and staff member at Maramba Primary School since its inception almost 30 years ago. She is a wealth of knowledge and provided a fantastic insight in how schooling has changed over the years. We shared lots of stories and even photographs of some familiar faces, especially our Junior School Leader Ms Maine.

Some great memories…

Here are some of our student's thoughts:

"It was really interesting to learn how the school was built and how long it took" - Dean 2P

“The Foundation room wasn’t there. The school had around 900 students.” Albert 2M

“Ms Gange was really nice and told us about the school and the olden days.” Ivy-Snow 1VT

“There was lots of talking and it was fun. The gym was really old.” Llewellyn 1W

We will be:

  • fun classroom activities during the week
  • Book week dress up day – THURSDAY 29th October
  • a Foundation- Year 2 and Year 3-6 costume parade on Thursday
  • a $20 book voucher for the best character costume in each year group – Foundation, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. The School Captains and class teachers will have the difficult job of selecting the best costumes.
  • There will also be a best dressed staff prize too that the School Captains will choose.

So put your thinking hat on and start creating those amazing costumes! However, at the end of the day, whether you receive a voucher or not it is the fun and our love for books that counts!

Take care, stay safe and enjoy the long weekend!

Kind regards,
