Book Week – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds

We had such a fantastic start to Book Week with so many amazing costumes and a whole array of book characters in our Book Parade. There was such enthusiasm shown by all and the mood was one of fun and frivolity. The teachers had a Julia Donaldson theme for our costumes. I was dressed as The Highway Rat, the swash-buckling baddie, we also had a Stick family, a broom full of characters, a wizard, the Gruffalo, witches and scarecrows. It was a magnificent thing to see so much passion for books and to see much loved characters brought to life!

In our library this week teachers have been reading all the short-listed books to students. We have also had a Book Week treat with winning tickets being placed randomly in books. Some students have been lucky enough to borrow a book, find a ticket inside and then have received a prize. Congratulations to those kids. If you haven’t looked inside your library book this week you might be in for a surprise!

Thank you to all who took part in our celebrations. We certainly are curious creatures here at South Melbourne Park. What a wonderful way to be!
