VCAL is Great!!!!

On Wednesday 21st October the Intermediate VCAL class embarked on a bike ride to Smythesdale via the Ballarat/Skipton Rail Trail. The ride was around 50km in total and took approximately 5 hours allowing us to enjoy many stops along the way. We left school at 9am and returned around 2:50pm.

We tried our best to stay as a group with Shirlene from student Services, Miss King and Mr Petrie accompanying us. The most severe injuries of the day being sore legs and sunburns. We stopped at Smythesdale football oval for a while to have a rest and have something to eat. After that we made our way down to Scarsdale and had lunch. We got to enjoy some music performed by Lori, one of our VCAL leaders. We got a photo of us all together and then were on our way back to school. Luckily one of the students brought his speaker so we had a great time riding back. Along the way, we picked up the boys that got left behind after one of their chains broke, but thankfully Sordi & Towelly came to our rescue. We had a few people tiring out but we all worked together, stayed positive and made our way back to school having fun.

The following week we then embarked on a ripper trip to The Grampians National Park, Halls Gap where we trekked the famous Pinnacle Walk. The day was perfect! Warm sunny weather, getting out and about with our friends and teachers and who could forget the famous ice-cream store in Halls Gap, yummo......

Of course we would all like to thank Mr Palmer and Mrs Kennedy for allowing us to go when they definitely didn’t have to. It was a great opportunity for us to use our teamwork and organisational skills in PDS as well as continuing to bond as a group and celebrate an interesting year.
