2021 Student Leadership Team
After 3 attempts this year to conduct our leadership conference, 22 aspiring year 11 students came together for 2 days in week three of term to participate in a number of workshops.
On the first day, students had the opportunity to listen to Matt, a director from one of the world’s biggest companies, Deloittes. Matt spoke about the importance of continuing to develop your skills and how Deloittes is managed. Ms Sargeant also led an activity on behavioural profiling and after lunch, students split into groups to focus on the school’s upstander/bystander movement.
On the second day, our newly appointed psychologist Shannon Thompson, presented a great session that focused on resilience, leadership and healthy communication. After finalising their presentation before lunch, each group presented to the school’s leadership team, Mr Palmer, Ms Sargeant, Ms Thorpe, Ms Kennedy, Mr Van Schie and Mr Mathison. Each of the groups had some fantastic ideas, with the leadership team making many notes and commenting on how they could be used within the school in the coming years.
At the conclusion of the conference, it was great to see all participants apply to be a part of the student leadership team in 2021. With all students demonstrating so well at the conference and writing excellent applications, it was going to be difficult for staff and students to vote on the teams and captains.
With votes being extremely close, and not many separating all students, the final team was chosen for 2021. A big thank you to all who applied and congratulations to the following students.
