Year 12 Exams

Tuesday saw the first day of exams for our Year 12 students, with students undertaking the English Exam. It was lovely to see the St. Joe’s Year 12 students walk out of this first exam, both relieved that it was over but also happy with their first exam. It is a credit to all out Year 12 teachers who have coached and cajoled, supported and encouraged our students to help them feel both calm and in control in this exceptional year. Best wishes to our Year 12’s for their remaining exams.

Year 10 and 11 Exams

Next week our Year 10 and 11 students will complete their end of Semester Exams. Students have been provided with their exam timetable (see below). Students who have a clash with their exams must have completed the exam reschedule form on SIMON.

Year 10 and 11 students undertaking exams are permitted to wear casual clothes and they are only required to attend school for their exam if they have been given permission from their parents via Operoo.  For students who wish to attend school as normal there will be private study available.

Year 9 students who are undertaking a Year 10/11 exam, must attend school in full uniform next week.

Any student in Year 11 moving into VCAL in 2021, and who is not returning to St. Joseph’s College, will not be sitting the exams; they will be using this time to complete work experience and organise placement for VCAL.

Students are reminded that normal exam rules apply – no phones, Apple watches, drinks (water only in a clear plastic bottle), no food, all stationery in a clear plastic pocket.  Students MUST remain in the exam room for the whole exam.

AEL Program

Students enrolled in the Year 10 AEL program will be attending classes as normal next week. They will be finalising their final work placement, which will run from the Monday 23rd November to Friday 4th December. Students are reminded that their work placement forms must be returned to school by Thursday 19th November.

Step-Up to VCE Program

Preparation for VCE 2021 starts on Monday the 23rd November with the Step-Up to VCE Program for all students undertaking VCE in 2021. This program will introduce students to their Unit 1 and Unit 3 subjects, providing a start to their coursework and an introduction to their holiday homework.

Our Step-Up Program enables students to start their VCE studies in earnest, including the provision of some preparatory homework for the holiday period, with a view to alleviating some of the time pressures and constraints of next year.  Consequently it is an important time in the life of a VCE student and it will be crucial that our students bring the right mindset to it.

Final Dates for students in 2020

Year 10 & 11 students undertaking VCE in 2021: Friday 4th December (Last day of Step-Up Program).

Year 10 students undertaking VCAL in 2021: Friday 4th December (Last day of their work placement).

Year 7, 8 & 9 students: Wednesday 9th December.

Subject Selection Confirmation and Booklists for students in Years 7-9

Next week, the culmination of an extensive program of course information and counselling will result in students in Years 7, 8 and 9 receiving confirmation of their 2021 Learning Program.

Nearly all students have been able to receive their first preferences, with a small amount receiving their second preference for some subjects due to clashes in the timetable grid.

Parents will receive an Operoo letter with links to the book lists which need to be lodged online by Friday 11th December.
