Year 5

Student Initiative - Well Done Archie!

Hi it’s Archie 5D

At the start of the pandemic I wanted to do something to help kids who are less fortunate than a lot of us here at BNPS. I decided to create and sell t-shirts to raise money. Now after a long wait the t shirts have finally arrived.

Thank you to absolutely everyone who bought a t shirt. I am so grateful and I’m sure all the kids and parents who need this are too. In total we have raised $751 for the Smith Family so thank you again.

I hope that you like your t shirts and that you know that you have just helped a lot of people during this tough time and that everyone is super happy that the restrictions are being slowly eased. Thank you to all the staff that have helped me through this, you guys are awesome.

Virtual Parliament

Year 5 students enjoyed an interactive ‘Virtual Parliament’ incursion, exploring the democratic process in Australia in which they acted out the preferential voting process. This was followed up by a mock ‘House of Representatives’ debate where students represented either the Government or Opposition and re-enacted the passing of a bill.

The Year 5 teachers were impressed by the enthusiasm, critical thinking and passion students displayed during these activities. This unit will conclude shortly with a collaborative project with students creating their own functioning country that encompasses the aspects of the UOI.

Book Week

We had a wide array of colourful characters for dress up day in Book Week. Students participated in a number of activities and enjoyed a Year 5 parade, waving to their Prep buddies from a safe distance. Students also enjoyed writing letters to their Prep buddies, how they have missed connecting with them over the last 6 months!
