A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Book Fair

What a wonderful day the students had for our Book Fair last Thursday. Thank you to our families for the effort put into costumes. The students looked amazing! Thank you to Kate Thompson for her efficient coordination of the day and to Sally Darnell for giving up her time to assist.

The school leaders rewarded Mrs Thompson with a special award.

Canteen

Special thanks to Clare Lee, our Canteen coordinator for this term. Clare along with Nicola Balint provided our students & teachers with a delicious and healthy lunch last Friday. I encourage you to put your orders in next week. Clare would love a few more helpers so if you can spare a few hours on Friday 5th November please give Clare a call on 0409079932.

Learning

This week all primary students in our diocese will be participating in PAT assessments for Mathematics and Reading. These assessments are devised by the Australian Council for Education Research and provide data to celebrate individual student growth in learning and to help set school goals for improvement.  Today, we welcome Trish Mitchell, Mathematics Subject Matter Expert from the Catholic Schools Office to help teachers analyse PAT Mathematics results and make plans to address any areas of weakness. Next Tuesday we will welcome Claire Ryan, English subject matter expert from the Catholic Schools Office to work with teachers to analyse the PAT Reading results.

Helping Others

Reaching out to help those less fortunate than ourselves is something we try to encourage our students to do. This week we invite students to wear crazy socks on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and make a Gold Coin donation. The money we collect will be sent to Jacqueline Toakley, the manager of Catholic Mission in our diocese for distribution to the students of the Arupe Centre in Cambodia.

End of Year Celebrations

Due to COVID restrictions we have cancelled our usual Presentation Night but we will have a Presentation Day at school on Thursday 10th December. At this celebration the Year 6 students will present their Memories of Primary School speeches and all class and special school awards awards will be presented.

Year 6 students will have a Dinner at school on Monday 14th December from 6.00-8.30pm, for the students only. Staff will organise catering  for this event. On Tuesday 15th December Year 6 will have their ‘Big Day Out’ in Tamworth.
