Spotlight on Literacy 

Each fortnight a different grade will be in the SPOTLIGHT sharing Literacy inside the classrooms! 

Welcome to Literacy in Year 3!

In Year 3, we have been learning about SLAM Poetry. We learnt that SLAM Poetry can be a story, persuasive, comedic or informative. SLAM Poetry is different to normal poetry as people perform the poem using their voices to engage the audience. Students read ‘The Great Kopak Tree’ by Lynne Cherry and formed a storytelling poem about animals from the Amazon Rainforest or a persuasive poem to save the Amazon Rainforest from deforestation.  We loved brainstorming, drafting and performing these for our classmates!
