Year 9 Dance

Three Year 9 Dance students: Liana Abreu, Mia Camilleri and Alina Nguyen took part in a Spring Dance workshop with Transit Dance in Brunswick. Over four days in the second week of the school holidays, they worked on and learnt a twenty minute dance work to be performed for a live audience. I was very impressed with the finished product and I am looking forward to seeing their names in lights in the near future.

The show was so varied, there were so many different techniques being used in each dance, making it so very admirable. My favourite performance would have to be the last, their formations were so clean and the dancers’ skills were highlighted. Of course there were some mishaps, but the memorable performances made it all worth it. So inspired by the choreography; really showcased the raw talent of each dancer. This experience was one to remember, so much happened and I am so thankful for the opportunity to have witnessed it all.

This performance gave me the opportunity to see how the dancers executed each move using their bodies as well as facial expressions. I found it fascinating how the dancers were able to keep their stamina up the entire time to deliver such an inspiring performance. Overall this was an amazing opportunity for me to see professional dancers as well as learning about important steps and techniques to keep in mind when performing.
