Student Wellbeing

As we enter Term 4 and our Year 12’s start to head towards exams and the end of their time at secondary school, we should consider the best ways that we can support all of our students as they enter this stressful time of the year where things can seem overwhelming.

Many ask questions such as:

Am I ready?
Have I studied enough?
I don’t think I have worked hard enough?

And many more

The most important thing that we can do to support our young people is to remain constant and supportive in our approach. Just listen and try and identify what it is that is causing them this distress and how can you help?

Help can be as simple as listening, providing them with sustenance to keep their brains working, encouraging them to stick to sleep patterns and making sure they take breaks, or go for a walk with the dog just to take their mind away from the books for a little while.

If you are concerned about your young person, then please contact the school and ask to speak to Mr Bratovic, Ms Piccione, Mrs Stafford or myself so we can support them in the best way possible.

Leadership Process is underway

As we start term 4, we have now entered the process of selection of our Student Leadership Team at Year 12 for 2023 .

We have had 13 students put in an application for Lamp Bearer and the interview process will take place at the end of this week with the new leadership team being revealed at Celebration Day on the 19 October.

We look forward in the next edition of the Marian of presenting the Student Leadership Team for 2023.

Uniform Reminders

Now that we are in Term 4 and the weather will hopefully improve we remind all of our students that we have now cycled back to summer uniform. This means the students should be wearing either of the following:

  • Summer dress with school blazer. Jumper is an optional item
  • School pants with the white emblemed shirt and their school blazer. In this case, they do not need to wear the school tie. The Jumper is an optional item.

We remind all students about the expectations in relation to jewellery and nails, make up and false eyelashes. These have not changed since the beginning of the year.

A reminder that our uniform shop is open on Wednesday and Friday each week from 10.30am to 1.30pm if you require any other school items. Students are able to access the shop at recess and at lunch.

Annual Awards Night this week

After two years of not being able to hold this event with our community and needing to conduct it virtually, we are pleased that on Tuesday 18 October our annual awards night will be held in the School Gymnasium.

Over 170 students have been identified as Award Winners and we will also acknowledge our Year 12 students as they begin their last week of school before they leave to prepare for exams.

In the next edition of the Marian News we will be pleased to acknowledge all of our Award Recipients, and we will highlight the Year 12 student who received the Kinsella Award.

This night is a celebration of what students have achieved over the course of the year academically and in their relationships with others. It also demonstrates how each of these students live out our Kildare Ministries Core Values in their everyday encounters and interactions within the community.

After the last two years that we have all been through this will be a very joyous night as we also celebrate just being together again. This is something to celebrate in itself.
