Spring has Arrived!

We hope everyone is continuing to stay healthy and happy as we look forward to some warmer weather now that Spring has arrived!

We would like to remind everyone to continue to RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) prior to attending school if you are displaying any signs or symptoms of COVID 19. We have plenty of extra RAT supplies in the General Office should you need further tests.

Now that Spring is upon us, we hope that the flu season is behind us; however, for many students this season will bring the start of the allergy and asthma season. As per Department of Education guidelines, we are unable to provide any school supplied antihistamines to students experiencing hay fever symptoms.  If you suffer from hay fever, please remember to take an antihistamine prior to coming to school.

Alternatively, parents can complete a Medication Consent Form and supply students with antihistamines to store in the Health Centre in case hay fever symptoms develop during the school day.

Pharmacies can also offer many other effective over the counter allergy treatments, including eye drops, nasal sprays, and various vitamins and natural health products, to compliment more traditional medicines.

Students may also wish to utilise this medication consent form and supply paracetamol to the Health Centre, to treat minor ailments like headaches and menstrual cramping.

Asthma symptoms can also be exacerbated during these months of high pollen. Students who suffer from asthma are expected to carry their reliever medication/spacer with them at all times during the school day.

All allergy and asthma sufferers should provide a medical management plan completed by your local doctor to the Health Centre. Spring is a great time to get these medical management plans reviewed by your local doctor as Department of Education Guidelines state that these medical plans should be reviewed annually.

Asthma management and allergy management plans, along with medication consent forms, can all be located on Compass in the School Documentation/Health Centre section. Hard copies can be collected from the Health Centre.

As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any student health concerns or questions.

Happy holidays and take care!
