This term has been a big one for Art and Technology. We have had our Year 7 and 8 students completing yet another term of Technology rotations and producing some amazing products such as soft toys, name signs, Habitat boxes, cyber security using Grok academy and an assortment of delicious foods.

In Art we have had some students producing amazing Matisse style paintings and learning the basics of Art elements and principles. Our Year 9 and 10 students have completed the first term of their semester elective, they are all well under way with their making.

My Year 9 Textiles class have all made some incredible boxer shorts, Mr Leithhead’s Systems class have been building their base for their Autonomous car, Ms Fiorentino’s photography class have been taking and developing some incredible photographs and learning how to manipulate different aspects of their craft, Miss Flandez's class has been learning how to sculpt their slab of clay into something amazing before firing it in the kiln, Ms Haggar’s Year 9 Bakery café have embraced their slice challenge coming up with a range of innovative & tasty slices and our VCE classes are drawing to the close of their classes and have all been making some amazing products.

These students are all working hard to prepare for our upcoming Art and Technology Showcase which is Mon 21 - Thu 24 November with a Presentation Evening 24 November.

This year's theme is Met Gala and it's going to be bigger and better than ever!

We have some incredible outfits being made in Textiles, screenwriting and storyboards being developed in Media and some incredible artwork being created using many mediums in Studio Arts.

We are so excited by what our students are producing but are super excited to see what next term holds.

Please fill out the Expression of Interest form for our Art and Technology Showcase and keep an eye out for National Design and Technology Week (Week 3) where we will be holding a range of activities.

We would like to thank the following community members for their support and contributions to our programs this year, Maria from Vermont Bunnings for providing resources for Amplify Grand designs workshop, Vermont Men’s shed for supplying our plyboard for our year 8 birdbox projects and to EACH and Uniting for accepting our Soft Toy donations from year 8 Textiles.

7H Signage Project

With only a week and a half of Term 3 to go, 7H worked hard to complete their Signage Project last week and we are super proud of their hard work and adherence to safety in the workshop. Some students took photos of themselves with their tools to document their progress and their knowledge and understanding in their progress log on OneNote.

Some students moved on to applying their CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) skills, and using illustrator RDworksx and the laser cutter to create their second sign.  Congratulations, 7H, on a job well done!

Year 9 Textiles Young Designers

Year 9 Textiles Young Designers have been working hard all term to complete their shorts. We are super proud of their outcomes and would like to congratulate them on their creative success.

Students were paired up in a recent  lesson to provided peer feedback on their outcomes.

Keep up the great work!  We can’t wait to see what they produce next term!

Food Tech

Fast and Fresh is a subject inspired by Food Trucks from around the world. Last week, we went on a journey through South America! We discovered the ingredients and recipes popular in this part of the world and enjoyed cooking two of these recipes.

On Thursday, we baked Alfajores, a sweet biscuit, filled with rich caramel “dulce de leche”. On Friday we fired up the charcoal grill and prepared steaks with a tangy dressing of “chimichurri” and a side of smashed roasted potatoes.

Students rose to the challenge of cooking on the commercial grill and as always, enjoyed eating their prepared meal! Well done on fantastic work in the kitchen this week!
