From the Acting Principal

Welcome back for Term Four!

We are in for a busy term with lots happening to round out the school year. The students have come back and jumped straight back into new learning, and it is wonderful to see them all enthusiastically engaged with their new topics and getting back into school routines.

We had our first assembly back in the Wicking Centre on Friday. We had a Foundation to Year Three assembly and then a Year Four to Year Six one. This Friday, we are going to have everyone back in together, so hopefully in the next newsletter I can share the news that parents can once again come to assemblies.

Despite the weather over the past few days, it is Term Four and that means school sunhats are required when outdoors. They must be the OGPS bucket hat, not the beanies. Please make sure these are named as it is very hard to reunite unnamed hats with their owners and our lost property fills up very quickly.

We are beginning to create classes for next year, which might sound early but we take time and effort to make sure these are as balanced as can be in many different ways. Our first school transition date is November 25, so we need to start early to have classes hopefully in place for this session. If you wish to make 2023 requests for classes, friends or teachers, please forward these to me or the office within the next two weeks. Only requests on educational grounds will be considered.

I have also sent out a Compass update about the changes to our COVIDSafe measures as of Thursday October 13. As a community, we have worked really hard to keep everyone informed and as protected from illness as possible, and I have no doubt that we will continue to do so.

Don't forget we have our Circus Skills concert coming up very soon! The students from Foundation to Year Four have been having their practice sessions and each class have been assigned their skill for the concert. There are lots of excited students looking forward to what is, for many, their first school concert. We look forward to seeing you all at the Besen Centre to cheer them on.

Till next time.

Take care,

Michelle Ogilvie
